The Ultimate Anti-Aging Routine? Expert Advice:

skin

Most dermatologists and skin care experts agree on the basics of fine-line-fighting skin care. Recently the top doctors and pros were asked for their best anti-aging advice and we have narrowed it down to the five most popular. By following their tips you will diminish the wrinkles you already have and keep new creases at bay.

Make collagen.
Collagen and it’s cohort elastin are what keep your skin plump and give it that ‘spring’ or ‘snap back’ feature. Without enough of these, skin will look like an old leather bag. The best way to encourage more of these skin components is the use of retinoids. Prescription retinoids are the best. Although it is common knowledge that they can be irritating and pricey… there’s no secret about that. For a gentler and less expensive version, try an over-the-counter brand (like Brabec Basics Retinol Cream). Also, remember when using retinoid creams, it is important to use a good moisturizer. You should also consider taking a collagen supplement.. one with pure natural collagen(See our PC Nutrition All Natural Pure Collagen product; 750mg per capsule and Wrinkle Away Plus Resveratrol).

Always wear sunscreen.
Even if you spend the day inside, this is still an important standard to follow. Experts suggest staying away from anything with a chemical base. Instead, look for products with titanium dioxide as the active ingredient.

Fight Free Radicals.
Anti-Oxidants (the free radical warriors) are the super heroes of the skin care world. They are the key ingredients needed to protect skin from harmful environmental forces that can damage skin and break down collagen. The pros agree that using a cocktail of anti-oxidants is your best bet … they work best in combination together. The top ones to look for are vitamins C and A as well as CoQ-10.

Eat Skinny Foods.
Your skin needs specific nutrients to help it heal and repair in an efficient manner. Look for foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C, and zinc. To get these all important ‘skin’ nutrients chow down on dark-green veggies, almonds, and drink lots of green tea!

Take a Pill.
As it has been pointed out in study after study, the vast majority of the American population does not even come close to eating their daily recommended servings of fruits and veggies. This translates into the fact that most of us are not getting enough of the all important nutrients that these foods contain. So, when you diet isn’t giving your skin what it needs, consider taking these power supplements!

CoEnzyme Q10 (Co-Q10).
This powerful anti-oxidant is best known for its role in cellular energy. It is key to helping cells repair themselves. Consider taking this one in the morning; for some it can be as stimulating as coffee.  OneLifeUSA has two Co-Q10 supplements: A chewable tablet each with 50mg of Co-Q10 and a gel cap with 100mg of CoQ-10 per gel cap.

Vitamin C.
This is probably the most ‘famous’ vitamin and best known anti-oxidant. Without it, the body cannot make collagen. Good in a cream, but much better absorbed when taken orally. Great sources are our best seller, the Advanced Anti-Oxidant, our Brabec Basics Green Tea plus Vitamin C and PC Nutrition Wrinkle Away with Resveratrol.

Salmon Oil.
This oil is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which can strengthen the skin’s barrier to help keep moisture in and irritants out. Celebrated for their anti-inflammatory properties, these fatty acids are important in keeping puffiness and redness at bay.  Can’t beat our OneLifeUSA’s pure salmon oil from wild cold water salmon – tested Heavy Metal Free – Something Smells Fishy: 90 gel caps per bottle.

Resveratrol.
It all started over twenty years ago when the media dubbed this health phenomenon the ‘French Paradox’.  It seemed that the French, known for their cigarette smoking, butter addiction, and love of red wine had far less heart disease than Americans.  How could this be?  All of those things were suppose to be detrimental to one’s overall heart health.  Researchers discovered it was the love of red wine that held the anti-aging secret.  Turns out compounds identified as proanthocyanidins and resveratrol (highly concentrated in the skin and seed of red grapes) had an anti-aging, heart healthy effect. More recently a killer study out of Harvard Medical School researchers are saying they have confirmed that compound resveratrol that's found in red wine does provide anti-aging benefits.  Resveratrol is found in OneLifeUSA’s Advanced Pro’s Plus and PC Nutrition Wrinkle Away with Resveratrol.
